Are Applications For 2026 Still Open At WSU

You will not be able to access the site until the next academic year, so fill out your form as soon as possible while it is still open. Walter Sisulu University is presently accepting online applications for the academic year 2026. Since its launch in June 2025, the online application portal has been accepting new applications for 2026.

When to Apply to WSU For 2026

The online application portal is still accepting new applications for the academic year 2026. Take advantage of this by applying as soon as feasible. The application will close in October 2025.

Walter Sisulu University Online Application Closing Dates for 2026

The Walter Sisulu University online application will close as scheduled below:

30 June 2025: Registration closing date for Postgraduate students (Masters by course work)
30 September 2025: Application closing date for Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) applicants
30 September 2025: Application closing date for International applicants
31 October 2025: Application closing date for RSA applicants (excluding FHS and international applicants).
13 December 2025: Registration closing date for Postgraduate students (M & D Full Research Studies)

Walter Sisulu University Online Application Requirements

Before starting the online application, students from South Africa/internationally must have the following documents ready.

Transfer Students

Students who are from another tertiary institution may apply and submit the following documents:

Matric Certificate
Post-Matric Certificate
Identity Document
Official Academic Report
Conduct Certificate.

Current Grade 12 Students

The following certificates are accepted:

The “Old Senior” certificate
The National Senior Certificate “NSC”
National Certificate Vocational “NCV”
N6 certificate
Current grade 12 learners must upload Grade 11 final results and first quarter or mid-year results if available.
Post-matric candidates must upload a matric or equivalent certificate, academic record, copy of ID or passport.

Please Note: Some departments may consider a mature age exemption for admission for some programmes

International Students

Study Visa

How to Apply for a Study Visa: The applicant must be accepted by the university on academic grounds before they may apply for a study visa. For this, the applicant needs an official letter confirming provisional acceptance or acceptance letter at that learning institution and the duration of the course.

Documents Required for a Study Visa

If you are a foreign student and wish to study in South Africa, you can apply for a study visa by completing the form here.
Study visas must be applied for at the VFS Centres near the educational institution where you will study or at the nearest South African embassy, mission, or consulate abroad.
Study visas for studies at a learning institution shall be issued other than a school shall be issued for the duration of the course registered for.

Please take note of the following point:

Any diploma or degree that isn’t issued in South Africa needs to be evaluated by SAQA (postgraduate levels) or HESA (undergraduate levels) and is the responsibility of the prospective student.
